Hubbard Pryor, a 22 year-old who escaped enslavement in Polk County, Georgia, would eventually join the 44th US Colored Troops on April 7, 1864. In two dramatic photographs, one taken prior to his enlistment and one afterwards, the dramatic change Hubbard Pryor's life is illustrated.
