Description

The Confederate Memorial in Jacksonville, Florida was erected in 1898.

Standing nearly 60 feet tall, the granite shaft is topped by a bronze statue of a Confederate soldier with his arms resting on his rifle.

On June 9th, 2020, following a series of national protests against police brutality and racism in policing in the summer of 2020, the memorial was taken down by Jacksonville city crews.
