This aerial photograph from March 1, 1954, shows the area southwest of Orlando, Florida, which would be transformed from mostly swampland into the home of the Disney World theme park complex in the early 1970s. The lake’s southern and eastern shoreline, in the upper left corner of the photograph, has retained much of its shape since the development of the area.
