In this case Annie Butler, publicly known as Annie Oakley, sued the Globe Publishing Company for libel because of an article printed in the St. Louis Daily Globe-Democrat on August 11, 1903 with the title, “Annie Oakley Stole Trousers to Get Cocaine.”
