This case in the U.S. District Court for the Charleston Division of the Southern District of West Virginia was a class action brought by the Barnettes and other Jehovah's witnesses on behalf of their children who were "of compulsory school age" and who were forced to salute the flag according to the regulations of the West Virginia State Board of Education.
