The original caption of this photograph reads: Somewhere behind the lines on Okinawa, Marines of the Fourth Marine Regiment enjoy chocolate covered doughnuts which three of the men prepared. At the right, Private First class W.J. Garland, of 3161 Roger Place, St. Louis, Missouri holds the tray of pastry while Private First Class H.C. Taylor, 722 Wadsworth Street, Syracuse, N.Y., passes the doughnuts to the men. The other Leathernecks are, left to right: Private Edward H. Smith of 154 North Arcadia Park, Lexington, Kentucky; Private L.F. Townsend, of Clearfield Ave., Mornstown, Pa.; Corporal D.C. Fenton, 220 Bellemonth Avneue, Warren, Ohio; Private J.W. Davis, of 306 Maryland Avenue, Delmar, Maryland; Private First Class H.J. Dellinger, Route 1, Cary, North Carolina; Private A.W. Bowman, of 74 West 176 Streeet, N.Y., N.Y.; and Corporal R.H. Frost, of Plattsburg, Missouri.
