When fresh beef wasn’t available, Civil War soldiers ate canned food. 150 years later, grocery stores still stock some of the foods that sustained the blue and gray — like Van Camp’s Pork & Beans, Underwood Deviled Ham, and Borden’s Condensed Milk.
