"Day of Infamy" Speech

This sound recording captures a speech delivered by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt before a joint session of Congress on December 8, 1941, in which the President asked for a Declaration of War against Japan, marking the entry of the United States into World War II. The speech was given the day after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. You can also listen to it in our main National Archives online catalog.
