This log from the U.S.S. Missouri records preparations for the September 2, 1945, surrender of Japan to the Allied powers, which ended World War II. The surrender proceedings themselves are summarized in the 8 A.M. to 12 P.M. entry. The entry continues on the next page of the logbook and records the times when every party signed the document.
