This is the printed patent drawing for a washing machine invented by Oliver B. Wright.

On July 9, 1844, Oliver B. Wight’s patent for a washing machine was granted. In his application, he states that he “invented a new and useful improvement in Machines for Washing Clothes.” When the Federal Government grants a patent, it excludes others from making, using, offering for sale, or selling the invention.
