End of the Trail Statue by James Earle Fraser was unveiled in Waupun, Wisconsin in 1929.
Standing some 15 feet tall, the statue depicts a Native American mounted on a horse. The male figure is depicted in a tattered blanket carrying a spear. Considered to be the first masterpiece of sculptor James Earle Fraser's long career, it symbolizes the plight of Native Americans at the turn of the 20th century. Originally completed for the San Francisco World Fair in 1915, this cast copy was commissioned by Clarence Addison Shadler to be donated to the Waupun, Wisconsin, where he lived.
