This comes from a series of original artwork for World War II posters from the Office of War Information (OWI). Posters were among the vehicles used by OWI to assist government agencies and to spread ideas, promote government war programs, sway public opinion, and communicate propaganda. The themes of the art document the needs, messages and values the OWI considered critical to the success of its campaigns and the war effort. They were designed to appeal to the public's conscience and patriotism by calling upon everyone to make personal sacrifices to further the national cause.
This primary source comes from the Records of the Office of War Information.
