David Watson married Alice Peavey on January 6, 1775, entitling her to a widow’s pension when her husband, a Revolutionary War veteran, died. Watson enlisted during the spring of 1775 and served for three months at Charles Town, Massachusetts. He later served six more months under Colonel Wyman at Ticonderoga, New York, and Mount Independence, Vermont. With her application for a widow’s pension, Alice Watson submitted this illustrated family record (fraktur) as proof of her marriage. She received $26.66 a year for his service.
