[hand stamp] "RECEIVED BUREAU OF IMMIGRATION SEP 19 1913"MRS. PANKHURST UNWELCOME
The Suffragets of Iowa have repudiated the methods of their militant sisters across the Atlantic by serving warning on Mrs. Pankhurst that she will not be welcome in Iowa.
The English spell binder will not only be not invited to speak in Iowa, but if she attempts to enter the state will be opposed by the women who are carrying on a campaign for the Ballot, and who are convinced that the "English methods" will work more detriment to their cause than it can possibly do it good.
Thus do the un-militant Suffragets of Iowa show their good sense. Violence and anarchy are fore-runners of disaster to the cause in whose behalf they are exercised; and far from advancing the prospect of their coveted enfranchisement, the militant women of England are only placing it hopelessly beyond their reach.
This sentiment is plainly expressed by the Iowa women in their recent action of repudiating Mrs. Pankhurst.
