President John F. Kennedy sent this letter of sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. William McAndrew following the death of their son, Specialist James Delmas McAndrew, who was killed in a helicopter crash in South Vietnam. At the time of the letter, 45 American servicemen had given their lives in Viet Nam.
