This photograph shows visitors gathering around a 30-foot-high statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The design of the memorial references a quote from Dr. King's speech delivered at the March on Washington on August 28, 1963: "With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope."
