Specialist Grace Langdon sent this memorandum to Dr. L. R. Alderman, director of the Education Division of the Works Progress Administration. In it she gives recommendations for help in the care of the young children of working mothers following a request from Waterbury, Connecticut. Langdon suggests that the WPA organizes a "Child Development Defense Group" with a nursery school for children of women employed in industry that is essential to the completion of defense contracts.
