President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote to the President of the U.S. Senate, Vice-President John N. Garner, on August 24, 1935. Roosevelt asks Garner to thank the members of the Senate for their hard work during the “Second 100 days.” During the summer of 1935, Congress passed several important pieces of legislation, including the Social Security Act, the National Labor Relations Act, and the Revenue Act.
