This letter concerns residents of Warm Springs Reservation, Oregon, who were allegedly defrauded of their Columbia River fishing rights by having been deceived into signing a treaty in 1865. The letter discusses the Government's litigation, on behalf of Sam Williams and other Yakima Indians, against the Seufert Brothers Company, concerning the fishing controversy. This document was identified by teachers in our Primarily Teaching 2015 Summer Workshop in Seattle.
This primary source comes from the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
