This document shows the types and number of messages received by President Franklin D. Roosevelt following the announcement of the establishment of the War Refugee Board. FDR created the War Refugee Board through
Executive Order 9417 during World War II. The Board's job was to coordinate governmental and private efforts to rescue those who could still be saved from the Holocaust. FDR declared it to be the policy of the U.S. Government "to take all measures within its power to rescue the victims of enemy oppression..."
