Herman Moll began work on
“The World Described or, A New and Correct Sett of Maps” in 1707 and continued to work until it was completed in 1717. Originally published as a folio edition, this series took into account all of the known parts of the globe.
This map, Plate IX, is described in the Atlas's Index as:
The NORTH PART OF AMERICA, under the Names of Louisiana, Mississippi, Canada, and New France; with the adjoining Territories of England and Spain. This Map is ornamented with a Prospect of the Indian Fort Sasquesahanok.
According to the advertisement notice within the map, areas outlined in blue are claimed by France; areas outlined in yellow are claimed by England; and areas outlined in red are claimed by Spain.
This primary source comes from the Records of Boundary and Claims Commissions and Arbitrations, 1716 - 1994.
