Eisenhower's Cabinet Secretary, Maxwell Rabb, sent this memo to White House Staff Secretary Colonel Andrew Goodpaster regarding mail received at White House about Emmett Till. He wrote that the President had received approximately 3,000 letters, wires, and cards about the Emmett Till case, and that there were about 11,000 names and addresses on the petitions. He suggested the White House should to reply to the letters and wires received, perhaps by creating a form letter.
