On May 28, 1970, a CORONA satellite took this photograph of Moscow. The box contains enlargements of the Kremlin. CORONA photographs were taken by two cameras. The exposed film was then stored in canisters, de-orbited, and retrieved by aircraft in midair. A classified program run by the CIA and Air Force, the CORONA program ended in 1972 after producing more than 800,000 satellite photos.
