The vote by the Electoral College in the 1824 Presidential election did not give any candidate a majority. This tally sheet shows this last presidential election in which no candidate won a majority of the electoral vote.
This threw the election into the House of Representatives in February of 1825. Even though Andrew Jackson won more votes than John Quincy Adams, when the vote went to the House, John Quincy Adams became President.
This primary source comes from the Records of the U.S. Senate.
