When the Supreme Court ruled in 1936 that some of the terms of the Agricultural Adjustment Act were invalid, Congress adopted the Soil Conservation and Domestic Allotment Act. To prevent another Dust Bowl, farmers received benefits to grow soil-building crops on portions of their land.
