The Recording Angel by Lorado Taft was completed in Waupun, Wisconsin in 1923.
The twice life-size bronze statue of a female angel is seated and holding on her lap the Book of Life. Upon the death of Blanche Shaler, her husband Clarence Addison Shaler commissioned the work to be created in her memory. The sculpture took nearly two years and was placed at her grave in October 1923. There is no inscription or information inscribed on the monument.
