This photograph depicts the Van Raalte Company in Blue Ridge, Georgia. It was a full fashioned knitting company that made nylon hosiery.
It comes from a series of Tennessee Valley Authority photographs promoting the use of electricity from 1923–1978. They include average citizens using electricity in residential, agricultural, industrial, and commercial environments; and electrical shows and exhibitions, which were sponsored to market and demonstrate the use of electrical lighting, kitchen appliances, and farm equipment.
