This photograph shows one of the thousands of marchers who participated in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963, in Washington, DC. He holds a sign that reads: We Demand Voting Rights Now! As part of the rally, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered his famous “I have a dream” speech. This photograph comes from the records of the U.S. Information Agency (USIA), which produced publications and films about American life for distribution in foreign countries.
