The monumental sculpture Wars of America by Gutzon Borglum was unveiled in 1926 in Newark, NJ.
The massive monument is the work of the sculptor Gutzon Borglum, who would beging his work on Mount Rushmore the following year. Wars of America consists of 42 figures and 2 horses, all in dramatic motion representing the American people coming ot the defense of their country. The group is headed by four figures representing the American Revolution, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and World War I. At the time of its construction, it was the largest bronze sculpture in the United States.
