This leaflet was printed in both English and Yiddish and distributed during World War I by a group of Russian immigrants and self-proclaimed anarchists. It condemned the capitalist system and America’s intervention in Russia, urging workers in factories to curtail production, and encouraging support for the Russian Revolution. They were arrested and found guilty of seditious speech and violating the Sedition Act of 1918. This landmark First Amendment freedom of speech case was appealed to the Supreme Court, which upheld the guilty verdict. This leaflet is an exhibit from U.S. v Jacob Abrams, Jacob Schwartz, Samuel Lipman, Hyman Rozansky, Hyman Lachowsky and Molly Steimer, etc.
This primary source comes from the Records of District Courts of the United States, 1685-2009.
