This photograph shows the wreckage of Chicago's Federal Building after the explosion of a bomb allegedly planted by the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) as a reprisal for the sentencing of the union's leader, William "Big Bill" Haywood, and 94 other members for seditious activities.
Haywood and others had been convicted of obstruction of military service and sedition under the Espionage Act of 1917 and sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.
