This U.S. Marine Corps World War II poster discourages the spread of rumors. Speaking thoughtlessly about issues like troop movements or war work, including spreading rumors, could be useful to the enemy and could easily compromise national security and soldiers’ and sailors’ safety. Avoiding careless talk was a popular war poster theme.
