This Confederate Monument was erected in 1895 in Louisville, KY.
Standing some 70 feet tall and composed of granite with three bronze figures, the Confederate Monument in Louisville is one of the largest monuments in the state of Kentucky. The bronze figures at the base depict a artilleryman with a ramrod and cavalryman with a sword. Atop the monument's shaft is a bronze statue of a Confederate infantry soldier grasping a rifle.
Inscribed on the northern side of the pedestal is "Our Confederate Dead 1861-1865." On the southern side of the pedestal is "Tribute to the rank and file of the armies of the south by the KY Woman's Confederate Monument Association."
In November 2016, the Confederate Monument in Louisville was dismantled with plans to move it to Brandenburg, Kentucky. It was dedicated in Brandenburg in May 2017.
