This document relates to the circumstances and need for relief of Washoe Allottees on pine nut lands in Nevada circa 1918. The Allottees' basis for selecting their land was based on the unreliable pine nut crop and sentimental reasons. However, the allotments were not on agricultural land and were essentially "useless" for homes, leaving the future of the Allottees "hopeless." The document emphasizes the deprivation of all aspects of the Washoe's livelihood--except pine nuts--by white settlement, and the lack of consideration of the Washoe's interests and welfare by those authorities that should have been concerned.
