Revolutionary War Sgt. Nathaniel Noyes served 21 months and 20 days before finding a substitute to complete his three-year enlistment. His son submitted this cover from their family Bible, including an illustrated family record (Fraktur), to the Federal Government to support a claim for his mother, Nathaniel’s wife, Tempy, to receive a pension. She received $108.33 per year.
