The original description for this photograph reads; "Editor of Philadelphia German Paper gets five years." Dr. Martin Darkow, editor of the Philadelphia Tageblatt, a German language nespaper, who was convicted of a violation of the Espionage Act, was sentenced by U.S. Judge Dickinson to serve 5 years in the Atlanta Penitentiary. He was released on a $10,000 bail pending an appeal to the supreme court."
