This bride, photographed by Francis Stewart a few days before her wedding on September 10, 1942, was interred at Tule Lake Relocation Center, outside Newell, California. The bride’s mother made her gown. The flowers came from nearby Klamath Falls, Oregon. Between May 20, 1942, and March 20, 1946, nearly 20,000 people of Japanese descent, many of them American citizens, were relocated to Tule Lake amid fears they would support Japan during World War II.
