97 Orchard Street, now home to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, was once home to nearly 7000 immigrants. From 1863 to 1935, immigrants from around the world first experienced America in this modest, six-story brick tenement on the Lower East Side. The building became a National Historic Landmark in 1994.
