The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) had an active Indian Division across many Indian reservations during the 1930s. This photograph appears to show an anniversary party of the Indian Division at the Pierre Indian Agency in South Dakota in 1941.
The Pierre Agency was responsible for several Sioux tribes, including the Lower Yanktonai (Nakota), Lower Brule, Miniconjou, and Two Kettles Bands (Lakota) of the Crow Creek Reservation; and the Lower Brule (Lakota) and Lower Yanktonai (Nakota) Bands of the Lower Brule Reservation.
