This photograph shows a burial detail at Camp O'Donnell, which was the final destination of the Bataan Death March. It was taken by Japanese forces and confiscated by the U.S. military.
Clarifying information about the photo was provided by Colonel Melvin H. Rosen (U.S. Army Retired) to correct the original caption, which read: This picture, captured from the Japanese, shows American prisoners using improvised litters to carry those of their comrades who, from the lack of food or water on the march from Bataan, fell along the road. Philippines, May 1942.
