State of Texas.I, P. Hansbrough Bell, Governor of the State aforesaid, do hereby certify that The Honorable Sam Houston was on this day, by joint ballot of both Houses of the State Legislature re-elected to the Senate of the United States from said State of Texas, for six years from and after the third day of March next.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my name and caused the Great Seal of the
State to be affixed, this fifteenth day of January Anno Domini, One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty three, of the Independence of the United States the Seventy Seventh, and of Texas the Seventeenth.
