Full caption reads as follows: Shelby County, Iowa. The village of Irwin is the center of a community -- village and hinterland -- including most of four townships. Its population, including both farm and village people, is about 1500. These pictures show Irwin's main street with its bank, post office, stores and offices. Farm people can buy most of what they need here in the village, but there are other and larger towns within easy driving distance whose stores are far better stocked.
