Inventor Jacob W. Davis defending his rights for the use of the copper rivets as fasteners for the edges of pockets on pantaloons, overalls, and coats. Levi Strauss and Jacob W. Davis became business partners in the Levis Strauss Company. These copper rivets on the edges of the pockets become the trademark for the Levi Jeans.
