Earn Certification, Masters with Teacher Corps/Peace Corps Program
The Program: Teacher Corps and Peace Corps have a new combined program. Teach at home for one year in the Teacher Corps, then overseas for two years with the Peace Corps. The Teacher Corps year will be a demanding job where hard work, new ideas and community involvement are needed. The Peace Corps years will be in a developing country like Afghanistan, Kenya, or Malaysia. The language will be different, but the job will be the same -- help kids learn, so they can help themselves.
The Results: You get a teaching certificate, plus plenty of teaching experience. Also, free raduate study leading to a Masters. And pay of up to $90 a week plus living allowances. You get a lot of training in innovative techniques by both Teacher Corps and Peace Corps. And you come home after three good years with money in the bank and a chance to apply your skills to America's educational needs.
Who is Elligible: Graduating men and women who majored in math, science, language arts or linguistics. You can be single or married with no children. You're not eligible if you've had a teacher certification in college.
How to Apply: This is a fairly small, pilot program. So apply early to be sure there'll be room. Write today.
